Week 36 going on 37

Officially 36 weeks and 5 days.... whew....here are the updates.

Week 36 Belly Pic:

Everything is going well---I'm still working. Starting May 11th--If she hasn't popped out yet-I'll start working from home--maybe go in for a few events I have planned that week, but otherwise try to stay close to the east valley. At my last doctors appt--there were no signs of labor and I don't think I'm having any contractions--sometimes I feel tightness, but nothing that is painful. Our little girl is doing gymnastics in my belly--and now I am finally seeing a lump move across my belly as she shifts from side to side.

5 pounds 1 ounce and growing..

At my last doctor's appointment the doctor said I was measuring "small." Which basically means the 3 pounds I gained between appointments went not to the baby but elsewhere.... So she ordered al ultrasound just to make sure that the fluid levels were Ok and whatnot. I had secret fears over the weekend that perhaps they had my due date wrong and I'm not really due until June--but all is well. At my ultrasound appointment today--everything looks great--fluid is good, baby is doing well. She weighs approx. 5 pounds and 1 ounce which puts her in the 35th Percentile. If I go full term, she can still gain about 8 ounces a week--which would put her around 7 pounds at 40 weeks. I'm ok with that. So the doctor will review all the measurements they took and I go back on Friday--so If there is any other news, I'll report it then. But in the meantime--here are the pics they took today. They weren't as good as last time--she has her head right up against the placenta and kept hiding behind it--but we managed to get a few more shots.

Puckering up and ready for kisses

And a big yawn...

Staying Positive

With about 5 weeks to go, I'm getting restless. I cannot focus, concentrate, or do anything else productive. I'm uncomfortable, awkward and just plain ready to be done. Plus if I have one more dream about giving birth to a cat--I'm going to freak out. In the last dream -the cat even had a name-Patches and this is what he or she looked like. I'm wanting to work all the way to my due date so that I can take all my time off after, but I so just want to throw in the towel. I have this horrible feeling that she won't be born early-but will never want to come out. The baby should be full term at 37 weeks, but the March of Dimes promotes keeping the baby in there until 39 weeks--So I'm posting this picture to remind me why these last few weeks are important.

Insomnia and Nursery Projects

Well once again I'm up in the middle of the night--this time I took someone's suggestion and did things that I did not want to do hoping it would make me sleepy--So I started cleaning off my desk, but that didn't seem to work as afterward I started surfing the web (the favorite of my insomnia past times)and here I am blogging agan. I was kinda looking forward to this nesting thing thinking I would be so organized and have a clean house-but so far all I want to do is work on the baby's room. Here are the latest projects.

I'm totally addicted to rate my space-nurseries on http://www.hgtv.com/. And have been going there for ideas and inspiration. I'm trying really hard to "Be Green" and use things we already have around the house. Below are two wood picture frames that I "recycled" with a can of pink spray paint, some ribbon and some little wood trinkets from Michael's. I think they turned out really cute--don't know what pictures will go in there yet--probably her newborn pics.
This is an old lamp we got from Ikea that was in the guest room. Just spray painted the shade white from a cream color and used my friend the hot glue gun to fasten the pink tassels and flowers--a whole new lamp for under $5. The butterfly clock from my butterfly obsession days and then a frame that we got for our wedding finally being put to use.
And Yay!!! The crib is done! Thanks to my Mom and Ami for putting it together while I "supervised." The bumber matches her quilt and is the inspiration for the theme of the room and the sheet and crib skirt are from Target. My fabulous friend Laura, made me a diaper cake for my shower and decorated it with these silk daisy clips--I just purchased a few more and they are hiding the strings of the bumper. When we got the crib up--we also totally rearranged the room from earlier pics. I'll post the new arrangement soon.
After we re-painted the dressers, I had some knobs left over--I only need 9 knobs, and they were sold in a package of 8--go figure. I found wooden circle things at JoAnn's for 59 cents and painted them yellow, then Ami drilled holes and screwed in the knobs. Hanging from the knobs are my baby shoes and a sweater and booties that I had as a baby (I think my mom made them).

Dressers Before

I'm shooting myself for not taking some better before pictures of the nursery before we started to work on it--but I had my mom dig out this picture of me that shows the dressers and what they looked like when I used them as a little girl circa 1981ish and then the after picture--we still have the mirror that attaches to the longer dresser--and will perhaps use it when our little girl gets a little older--the mirror needs to be replaced and then the wood repainted.
