Chloe's Milestones

Parent / teacher conference for toddlers?   Believe it or not, we had our very first session with Chloe's teachers this week.  They went over her portfolio and discussed the milestones she has accomplished.

Milestone 1:  Exhibits satisfaction in presence of familiar results.
Milestone 2:  Is aware of own feelings and shows visible reactions to the feelings of others--this is one that we really didn't notice as a milestone, but I saw it the other day when Chloe and I were at the park and another little girl fell and bumped her head and started crying and Chloe was very concerned about her.  So we have begun to tell Chloe how sad it makes us when she misbehaves in hopes that she will not like making Mommy and Daddy sad.
Milestone 3:  Shows strong sense of self as individual evidenced by resonse to name, No!, me, and mine---Yes, she loves the word No--but only when she says it.
Milestone 4: Explores everything
Milestone 5:  Identifies some body parts--she almost knows them all.
Milestone 6:  Feeds self with spoon or fork and uses cup well
Milestone 7:   Scribbles with crayon or marker and makes horizontal strokes
Milestone 8:   Listens to short stories--every night--it is "one more" and then "one more" and again "one more"
Milestone 9:  Begins to play pretend, adding sounds.
Milestone 10:  Explores objects through touch
Milestone 11:  Matches like objects--I was so surprised when went to her closet and actually picked out matching shoes
Milestone 12: Moves around objects
Milestone 13:  Stacks rings and block and uses shape sorters
Milestone 14:  Helps dress and undress self
Milestone 15:  Shows pride in creation and production
Milestone 16:  Displays feelings mostly through behavior rather than words--So all those tantrums fall under this milestone.

The one milestone that her teachers are working with her on is combining words in two and three word sentances and commands.  She talks alot, but still in her own language and one word at a time--mostly--No, Elmo, More. I'm not sure if Ruff-Ruff counts as a two word sentance, but she says it really well.

The other observation that we made this week is that we thought she named her red and white dog--bubba, but we think that she thinks he is a sheep and is calling him Baa-Baa.  We noticed this after she started taking a liking to a pink sheep in her room and calling him Bubba or is it Baa-Baa.
