Many people have asked us this question--and the answer really is simple--we liked it. In the Jewish tradition, it is customary to name a new baby after a family member who has passed on. We went back and forth about what we wanted to do, and it was most important to us to pick a name that we both loved. About 3 weeks ago we started talking about the name Chloe and we both really liked it--it didn't come from anywhere except from some baby naming website that I'm sure we saw it on. But it is the perfect name. Chloe is from Greek orgin and means blooming--which is perfect because her nursery is a flower theme and bloom is one of the words over her crib. I know the picture is kinda hard to see, but bloom is in script below Love and to the right of Live.

Ok--so where did Sarai come from. Again we just found it while surfing the 8 billion baby naming sites on the web---It serves our need for a Hebrew name as Sarai comes from the Old Testament-- Sarah (
Hebrew: שָׂרָה,
Modern Sara
Tiberian Śārāh) is the wife of
Abraham as described in the
Hebrew Bible and the
Quran. Her name was originally Sarai. According to
Genesis 17:15 she changed her name to Sarah as part of a
covenant with
Yahweh after
Hagar bore Abraham his first born son
Ishmael. The Hebrew name Sarah indicates a woman of high rank and is sometimes translated as "princess".
We never considered Sarai as a first name as we knew it would get butchered in both spelling and pronunciation, but we love it as her middle name. It is pronounced Sah-Rye.
So what a perfect name--Chloe Sarai--our blooming princess
