One is Fun!

A daughter is a day brightener and a heart warmer.

It has been one year since Chloe entered our life and it is hard to remember what life without her was like.  We swear that the day she woke up on her birthday she grew.  She is becoming such a wonderful little person and leaving any symptom of a baby behind.  She has grown 9.3 inches since she was born and now stands 28.3 inches. She has also gained 11. 4 pounds and weighs in at 17 pounds and 9 ounces.  Chloe is small and ranks in the 4% for weight and 24% in height, but is growing up her curve just fine.  She received another round of vaccines at her doctors visit and was a little trooper (I remember how that MMR shot hurts).  She is also right on track in all her development.  She continues to open cabinets and take things out of drawers, she has conversations with us that only she can understand, she is learning how to put things from one container to another, and loves to make her mommy and daddy laugh.  Today she put her hand on her face and made a loud noise and we laughed and she kept doing it over and over again.  She is also showing her independence and when she wants something...she wants it and has started crying when she doesn't get her way.  At one year, her food restrictions all gone and now she can eat anything. So we are working on transitioning from a bottle to sippy cup and from formula to whole milk.  She is doing better at eating finger foods and using a spoon/spork. She still eats pureed food, but next week she moves to the one year old classroom at school, where she can't use a bottle and needs to feed herself (I know--alot to demand from a one year old, but they assure me that she'll be fine.) She also will start to transition from taking naps in a crib to a cot and eating lunch in a high chair to eating with her friends at school at a table.

But perhaps the biggest shocker surrounding Chloe's 1st birthday was that we discovered that Chloe could climb stairs.
Yes, she can climb all the way to the top!
The weather has been great and Chloe has enjoyed going outside in our backyard and playing in our new grass.  She loves chasing balls and listening to the birds chirping.  She loves her ping pong balls as well and loves taking them out of one bucket and putting them into another.  She also loves playing with toys in her crib and loves it even more to throw all the toys out of the crib and wait for us to come and give her more toys.  She definately keeps us on our toes and guessing what she'll do next.

Chloe's Birthday Cottage

Welcome to Chloe's Cottage.  Made with love by her Mommy and Grandma T.
The mailbox opens for Chloe to mail letters to all her friends and family. But her favorite thing to do is to pick the flowers in the window sill.
On the side of the house is another window and a tree with lemons for Chloe to pick.
The garden is her favorite. There are apples to pick from the tree, lettuce, carrots and corn all ready to be harvested from the garden.  After picking, Chloe can put all her goodies in the basket.
On the other side of the house is another tree with lots of animals to play with. A frog, owl, butterfly and yellow birdy all connect with velcro so that Chloe can have the frog climb the tree or the butterfly resting on the ground.  The flowers are peephole that Chloe can pass items through or just poke her cute little face out.
Here is another view of the tree--half apple, half lemon.  I also plan on making some oranges and limes. I think it will be helpful when Chloe is learning her colors.

Chloe enjoy your cottage!!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Our Cupcake is Turning One!

Chloe just barely survived another right of passage--The 1st Birthday Party.
Chloe's theme was a simple one---Cupcakes.
Cupcake Tutu, pink lace leggings, and pink converse--The perfect cupcake birthday outfit.
Chloe enjoyed poking her very own giant cupcake.
But she was more interested in eating watermelon.
What is everyone pointing at?

It's Bilbo!  No, Chloe didn't get a puppy for her birthday--Bilbo was just a guest.
Max played with his "shoot-gun", Emma with a blue cup, and Gavin with an inflatable hammer.
Let's go Great Grandma Elizabeth--It is time to open presents!
Chloe's favorite part of open presents was holding the cards.
Mommy and Daddy's friends bought Chloe lots of toys that make lots of noise.  One word--Payback.
A gift from Mommy and Daddy--Fergie the Frog Rocker.
Playing with all these presents is exhasting.
Everyone's gone--just a tired birthday princess cuddling with her proud papa.

Play Dates

Picnic with Emma at Joe's Farm Grill. Emma shared her grilled cheese with Chloe and Chloe shared her watermelon with Emma.
Gavin and Colin invited Chloe and Lexsen over for Brunch.
They are not all looking at the camera but trust me--it was very hard just getting them all in the same shot.

The countdown to 1 has begun...

Chloe did great and is in a mommy or daddy and me class with Coach Amy.  She is not in a private lesson, but she is the only one in the Tadpole Level, so it is like we get a private lesson for group price.
Chloe is learning how to reach for Mommy when sitting on the side of the pool. She is learning what it feels like to have her head underwater. She is also learning how to Monkey Walk (walk her hands along the side of the pool), blow bubbles, and kick her legs.  Coach Amy sings her songs with hand motions and Chloe mimics her.  We've had two lessons so far and plan on doing 12 this year and 12 next year. Next year Chloe should graduate and be a Minnow.

Where oh where has my little baby gone....
