Sparky time!

Chloe's 1st meeting with Sparky at the ASU/Stanford Basketball Game.  The Sun Devils won 88 to 70!

Ocho

Learning to stand, a fever, and the removal of our coffee table is how we'll remember Chloe's 8 month birthday.  It only took about one weekend and she is pulling to standing on everything, the dishwasher, the coffee table, a leg, a pillow, the cat--everything. She is even able to stand with only one hand and often tests herself and can sometimes stand with no hands for a second or two before she plops down.  All of the standing led us to finally move the coffee table out of our living room and replace it with our ottoman style one from our upstairs loft.  8 months also brought on a cold with a fever. I think she may be teething again.  She is chewing on everything and drooling, but I don't feel any top teeth yet. Chloe is doing well with eating solid foods and seems to like most of it.  We think she doesn't really care for mashed potatoes, bananas, and cucumber.  Next up is butternut squash.  She still loves animals and still loves to chase Alex around the house--pulling his tail every chance she gets.  It is hard to keep her on her play area in our living room--she loves to take her toys and push them all over the house.  Her favorite is her stacking musical star--she loves to take it apart and push the stacking stars all over the house. She is still true to size and is wearing 6-9 month clothes. She knows how to shake her head no, but we are not sure if she really knows what it means.  Chloe continues to babble--saying da da da da da da and some times ma ma ma ma ma ma and ba ba ba ba ba ba ba and alot of ahhaahhahaahhhahah's (often very loudly).  She is still scooting around by pushing herself with her right foot and dragging her left.  She is also learning to clap. She often puts her hands together, but can't really make any sort of clapping noise. We are just about to move her to the big bath tub. She loves to play with her rubber duckies and suck the water off of wash cloths. But our favorite thing she does is laugh and splash around when we blow on her when she is wet it the tub-the cold air surprises her and she goes crazy.

Kona & Wrigley Go Crazy

Chloe loves dogs and up until now dogs love Chloe. Chloe could only play with the dogs through the glass door. We'll give Kona and Wrigley another chance. After all, it was there first time meeting a baby.

Kona and Wrigley need to learn from Russ--Babies are fun!!

Time to do the Dishes

All it took was one weekend and she can stand--one handed.

Look Who's Standing

It looks as if she is hanging on for dear life in this picture. But over the weekend she became much more comfortable--even letting go with one hand. She is now pulling up on everything.

We had to take this picture because Chloe's mom has the same picture from her first Christmas. (Once I find it--I'll post a side by side)

Lucky Number 7

7 months old greeted us not with a whimper but with a roar as Chloe (and her parents) survived her first bad teething experience. 5 sleepless nights, one upset baby, and 2 tired parents--but we survived. We tried everything under the sun to soothe poor Chloe, but all that worked was to hold her all night long. Chloe now has 2 cute bottom center teeth to show for it. At 7 months, Chloe is also scooting around like crazy -mostly chasing after Alex the Cat. She pushes with one foot and drags the other leg, but somehow manages to catch up with Alex every once in a while. She loves dogs as well and has met several. Great-Grandpa's dogs, Patty and Holly, Walter the German Shepard and Russ the Sheepdog. She goes crazy when she sees them. Chloe is also increasing interested in her toys and is learning how to push buttons and turn pages and hug her stuffed sheep (which is practically as big as she is). She is doing well with her solid food and has most recently tried avacado, peas, and carrots. So far she likes it all. She is a little unsure of the bananas and seems to like zucchini the best. We can no longer keep anything on the floor because she sees everything and crawls over to eat it--including shoes or even a piece of lint. We are hopeful her first word will come soon and have been practicing mama and dada and baby. She also had her first cold and visit to the pediatrician where we had to use the sick waiting lobby. No worries, though--just a cold and it passed after about a week or so. Chloe loves bath time and splashes at the water and plays with her rubber ducky. She even sometimes tries to drink the water when we pour it over her head--however she doesn't like to drink water from a sippy cup yet. I guess she hasn't made the connection that the stuff she bathes in is the same stuff in the sippy cup. She weighs about 15 pounds and is wearing true to the clothing sizes of 6-9 months. We packed away 4 bags of clothes that don't fit her anymore. We also finally had our family photo shoot (which was supposed to happen at 6 months, but due to weather it was postponed) and are eager to see how the pictures will turn out.
