Happy 4 Month Birthday!!

Chloe on June 6th at 10 days old.

Chloe on September 26th at 4 months old.

Me and my foofooloo.

The hair fairy comes and visits Chloe quite often. Her Nanna Anna and Grandpa Henry call it a foofooloo. Needless to say we now have an assortment of barrettes and bows to keep this thing under control until her hair grows out a little more.

How in the world.....

When we put Chloe to bed--she is in this position.

Often times when we check on her in the morning, she is in this position.
How does something wrapped up like a burrito with no use of her arms or legs turn 180 degrees?
We are just happy she is not waking us up at night to find out=)

Brit Bat

When little Jewish boys are born they have a brit milah or bris (the ceremony in which the baby is circumsized) 8 days after they are born. In modern times, little girls have a brit bat or baby naming ceremony in which the baby girl is welcomed into the world with blessings and given a Hebrew Name. Unlike for the boys, the girl ceremony was created in modern times and therefore doesn't have a strict timeline for when it occurs. Since the Rabbi that married us was on sabbatical the whole summer, we held Chloe's Ceremony on September 11th. It is a day that we will never forget, but now it has new meaning for us. It was a whirlwind of an event--trying to keep a 3 month old quiet until her portion of the ceremony came. We were called to the front where the Rabbi gave Chloe blessings and then announced her Hebrew Name--Sarah. Ami and I then read a letter that we wrote to Chloe.

Her hebrew name is Sarah because in the bible Sarai's name is changed to Sarah. We also liked the name because Sarah is one of the matriarch's of Judiasm and there is a blessing for daughters that says--May God make you like Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah. May God bless you with the strength and vision of Sarah, with the wisdom and foresight of Rebecca, with the courge and campassion of Rachel, with gentleness and graciousness of Leah and with their faith in the promise of our people's heritage. We further gave Chloe this name in honor of all the strong women in her life. She was lucky to have two great-grandmas watching her on this day. Great Grandma Elizabeth and Great Grandma Arlene who was in town for my cousin's wedding.
The night proved to be exhausting and we couldn't take pictures in the Scantuary of Temple Emanuel and then we completely forgot to take any pictures before and after. So yes we did redress Chloe in her special outfit and the rest are from Grandma Anna.

Chloe's 1st Wedding

Chloe's 1st wedding was a multi-cultural one. She attended a traditional Nigerian Ceremony on Thursday followed by a traditional American Ceremony on Saturday.

"I love getting dressed up--check out my new shoes"

"All this dancing is making me tired"

"Yes, I am adorable"
Chloe makes a new friend at the Traditional Nigerian Ceremony.

Chloe Meets the Gilmore Clan.

The Gilmore side of the family was in town for cousin Phil's Wedding. Chloe attended her first wedding and got to meet some extended family from Minnesota. I was reminded as to why I didn't want kids at my wedding as Chloe burped right in the middle of the couple's wedding vows. Hopefully it doesn't make it onto the wedding video. Cousins Jackie and Sarah having some play time with Chloe.

Fight Devils Down the Field

A big thank you to mother nature who gave us a rain storm and dropped the temperature so that Chloe could enjoy her first Sun Devil home game and vicotry against Idaho State. It was still about 95 degrees, but a much welcomed cool down from the the 113 degree temps from a week earlier.

Can you find the baby in all the maroon and gold?
Chloe meets the Tubas!

We found our seats.

Look what I can do....

At 3 months, Chloe continues to discover the world. She has discovered her hair and runs her fingers through it when she is tired. She has discovered her fingers and loves to suck on them. She has slept through the night a few times. First 4 nights in a row in mid-August and hopefully tonight will make another 4 nights in a row. She is sleeping in her own room now and loves her crib. She is also spending more time on her belly and can lift up onto her elbows. She doesn't stay there very long. When she gets tired she falls face first into the ground and starts drooling. =) She has also rolled over from her belly to her back, but only a few times. I think she did it by accident and has now forgotten how to do it. She is grabbing at toys and loves to lay on her back on her play mats and grab at all the dangling toys. Occasionally she can get the music to play when she pulls some of them, but mostly just likes putting them in her mouth. And finally she is talking--we can't understand her though because she is speaking in dolphin language, basically a bunch of eeks, awks, and other squeels. But our favorite is her laugh, she likes it when her daddy smothers her with kisses or blows in her face and she opens up her eyes real big and giggles.
